It gives us an immense pleasure to inform that, the Department of Biotechnology, Sir M. Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology, Bangalore is organizing a “Three-day National Seminar on “Innovation, IPR and Entrepreneurial Opportunities in BT” at Sir MVIT Campus during 29th to 31st January 2018. As you are well aware, the focus of education is to not only train the students in the curriculum-defined skill-sets, but also to show them directions towards realizing their higher aspirations. To alleviate the many concerns of enthusiastic graduates and their guardians, the Department of Biotechnology at Sir MVIT is organizing this Three-day National Seminar. The conference would provide a forum for researchers, entrepreneurs, BE / BTech / BSc /MSc / MTech / Ph.D students, inquisitive parents, enthusiastic faculty, energetic alumni, successful industry experts, supportive media persons and NGO’s working in the field of Biotechnology and life science. For the dissemination of information & awareness on the prospects of these emerging domains, students of Std XII are also encouraged to participate. This event will congregate the best minds and entrepreneurs, to inspire the young minds to craft their successful ideas and concepts with a purpose to value addition and benefit human kind.

QSL Card Design Contest



Dear Colleagues and Students,

As you are aware we are celebrating the Diamond Jubilee of our Institution.
As a part of this celebration,
VU2MHC, HAM club of our Institute will operate the club station
with a special call sign: AT6MIT
from 9th December 2017 to 7th January 2018.

For all the communications performed in this period we will be exchanging an exclusive QSL card (an acknowledgement card) designed for this occasion.

“Manipal Student Research Colloquium (MSRC) 2018” during 15-16 March, 2018 at Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMIT), Sikkim



This is to inform you that Sikkim Manipal University (SMU), Sikkim will be organizing “Manipal Student Research Colloquium (MSRC) 2018” during 15-16 March, 2018. Interested students and research scholars from Manipal Group of Institutions are invited to submit abstracts of their research papers to the Associate Director (R & D), Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMIT), Sikkim by email up to December 30, 2017. More details about the Colloquium are available in the attached brochure.

Heads of Institutions, Centres of Excellence and University Teaching Departments are requested to notify this to students and research scholars of their institutions and encourage them to submit abstract of their research papers.

The following points may be brought to the notice of the students/research scholars as well:

1) There is no registration fee for this Colloquium.

2) The travel expenses of the participants will be covered from the respective institutions (actual cost or maximum of Rs. 5000/- per student/paper whichever is lower. This is in lieu of conference entitlement for UG/PG students and for PhD students admitted under MU scholarship scheme).

3) The local hospitality (boarding, lodging and local transportation) will be provided by host institution (SMIT).

4) The research paper should be scrutinized and cleared by the respective Institutional Research Committees for presenting in MSRC 2018.

5) Approval from the Head of the Institution/Centres of Excellence/University Teaching Department as the case may be, shall be mandatory before submitting the abstract of research paper to the Associate Director (R & D), SMIT, Sikkim.

6) For reimbursement: The students and research scholars who have participated and presented their papers at MSRC 2018 can submit their claim form supported by original travel tickets and a copy of the certificate of attendance/presentation to the Director, Finance, MU, Manipal, duly recommended and forwarded by the Head of the Institution / Centre of Excellence and University Teaching Departments concerned as the case may be.

7) No advance money will be given to the students / research scholars from the Institution/University, for attending the colloquium.

Grand Challenges Karnataka: Tackling Traffic Congestion & Water Conservation






Announcing next edition of Novartis Leadership Camp - inviting participation - last date to apply October 8



Novartis is organizing the Novartis Biotechnology Leadership Camp (BioCamp) in Hyderabad, India from December 17 to 20, 2017. BioCamp is a pioneering seminar organized by Novartis that brings young talented, graduate and post graduate students from diverse faculties and different universities closer to the pharmaceutical industry and increases our connect with universities in the country. Selected students will have the opportunity to learn from and network with leaders in the pharmaceutical and business sectors as well as hone their team building skills. The winning three students from the India BioCamp will get the opportunity to avail of a customized 2 month internship with Novartis in India.
BioCamp is open to postgraduate students and young researchers in natural sciences, medicine, biotechnology, bio-informatics, pharmacy, chartered accountancy, business administration or law (specialization in IPR) interested in pursuing a career in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry.

We department of Chemical Engineering is organizing a national symposium, an annual symposium by students chapter on 20th oct 2017. 
Requesting all the Chemical Engineering students to participate in large number and success this symposium.


ANNUAL DAY 2017- VOLUNTEERS


Dear Students

The institute is celebrating Annual Day 2017 between 24th and 26th October in a three day session followed by Farewell on 28th Oct.

Group 2 including branches of Chemical Engg, CSE, IT, CCE, Biotech, Computer Applications and Basic Sciences would celebrate it on 25th October.

In this regard i would like six people ( three each from 3rd and 5th Sem) to nominate themselves to be stage volunteers.

Their job entails
1) Carrying the awards to the dignitaries on the dais.
2) Presenting flowers to the dignitaries.
3) Assisting the stage coordinator during the function.

The programme begins with High tea at 5:30 PM. There will be a formal stage programme from 6 PM to 7:30 PM and a cultural program followed by dinner.
The class representatives may send me the list of interested students with their contact number by tomorrow 12 30 PM.

Outstanding Achievements of our students during the year 2017


Our students have participated and won a number of prizes and laurels in various technical/cultural/sports competitions conducted outside MIT, Manipal. It is our privilege to compile and collate all such events for our archives.

All such students are required to submit details (hard or soft copies in word format) of such events with proof (Certificate of Participation, event Photos, etc.) to the Office of the Associate Director (Student Welfare) latest by Saturday, 7th October, 2017.
