KPMG International Case Competition 2018

KPMG International Case Competition (KICC) is a platform for students in educational institutions across the world to showcase their talent and gain insights to KPMG’s international presence. It is the largest business case study competition organized by any Big 4 professional services firms in which over 18,000 students from 480 Universities across 23 countries participated last year. The KICC international finals are scheduled to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 9 April to 12 April 2018.

Through a series of exciting case study competitions in the country’s leading engineering colleges, non-engineering graduate campuses and B-Schools, we will choose “Team India” for Malaysia.

Who Can Participate?

The competition is open to the following students

· Second and third year students of top non- engineering graduate colleges.

· Third and fourth year students of top engineering institutes.

· First year students of the 2 year full time PGDM (or its equivalent) program in top business schools.

Participation in KICC within India is by invitation only and all rights are reserved by KPMG.

How Does KICC Work?

The teams should expect to work on a real world business case of varying complexity. They will be challenged at each stage to show their skills on a number of fronts such as analysis, presentation, communication and innovative thinking by the campus KICC organizers so that one team is selected for representing the institute.

Structure of the Competition and Expectation from the Institute?

The competition will be coordinated by KPMG in India. Since there are a number of activities which cannot be executed at the campus by KPMG, we will require help from the institute. We recommend setting-up a KICC organizing committee consisting of 3-5 final year students from the placement team and consulting club (if any) and a faculty lead. The institute’s KICC organizing committee would be responsible for the competition on campus. KPMG would provide full support to the committee through a number of ways.

1. Registrations (September 2017): Eligible interested students will need to contact the KICC organizing committee at the institute to register in teams of 4 students (each team needs to have at least 1 male or 1 female member).

2. Campus championship (October 2017 – week 1 to week 3): This is the first round of elimination of the competition. All registered teams work on a case and present their findings to the institute’s KICC organizing committee. KPMG will provide necessary material to the institute for identifying the top team which will represent them for the next round.

3. Zonal prelim championship (November 2017 - week 2): Teams from participating non-engineering graduate colleges and engineering campuses (North, South, West and East) will compete with each other in this round. It will take place at one of the participating institutes in the Northern, Western and Southern regions (campuses in the East will be part of the western region) and will be judged by experienced KPMG professionals. The winning teams from this round will proceed to the regional championship.

4. Regional championship (December 2017 – week 1): Teams from participating B-Schools various regions (North, South, East and West) will participate in this round of the competition and compete with zonal prelims winners. It will take place at any one of the participating institutes in the Northern, Western and Southern regions (campuses in the East will be part of the western region) and will be judged by experienced KPMG professionals. The winning teams from this round will proceed to the KICC India national finals.

5. India national finals (January 2018 – week 3): For this round of the competition, the winning teams from each region will be required to travel for a day to Delhi and be evaluated by senior KPMG professionals. KPMG will organize the travel as well as stay for the teams participating in this round.

6. International finals (9 April to 12 April 2018): The winning team from the national finals will proceed for the coveted KICC international finals. If required, the national finalists should inform their interning companies about the schedule well in advance. The students should check with their placement team at the time of registrations to avoid any confusion. KPMG will organize mentoring sessions for team India and make necessary arrangements for the 4 team mates to travel and stay in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for the grand finale (includes return to India).

Note: Should the team from your institute win the India National finals then it will be the onus of the campus to ensure that all the 4 students of this team are available to participate in the KICC International finals.
